Our objective over the last two seasons was to prepare Ipswich Town’s Portman Road Stadium for the upcoming football season, a significant project. This extensive work required a multifaceted approach due to the complexity and scale of the task.
The Brief:
- Comprehensive deep clean of the Sir Bobby Robson stand, including its exterior windows, cladding, and signage.
- Cleaning of the roof of the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand.
- Cleaning of bins, seats, advertising boards, railings, and the parapet surrounding the pitch.
- Jet wash stands, various areas, and the central car park.
Challenges:
The primary challenges faced during this project have included operating within an active construction site and meeting a critical deadline right before the start of the football season. Certain logistical hurdles have also posed significant challenges, such as the need to close roads around the stadium to ensure the safety of both the public and our team members.

Collaboration with Paramount Platforms Ltd: We collaborated with Paramount Platforms Ltd for aerial access, employing their blue and white Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP) to reach high areas safely and efficiently.
Specialist Team and Equipment: We deployed a specialized abseil team to install bird netting, ensuring all work was done safely and met our quality standards. Our team used a combination of agency staff, hired equipment and high-grade cleaning chemicals chosen explicitly for this project.
Logistical Management: By coordinating closely with local authorities, we obtained the necessary permissions for road closures around the stadium, minimizing disruption and ensuring safety.
